Old Pines - Reworked 2024.

This piece is on show at the Royal Scottish Academy’s Annual show until the end of June.

I made some extensive revisions to the piece after it faded significantly in recent years. Same story as other pieces mentioned further below.

Apart from the usual psychedelic intrusions I wanted to add depth, perspective and scale with more reference to Glen Affric. Using a number of different view points to convey this, loch side and hill side was a nod over to the endless Asian aesthetic inspiration. Lots of styles explored then dropped as it just kept going on and on. The pine cone - pine eel head was fun. There are other variants of how that might look in the home screen 2024 page. This and a number of new works also read at a distance - with key features standing out. The old piece can be seen beneath the layers. Which is your favourite?
